Meraki Project
Improving wellbeing, resilience and breaking down barriers to community engagement through targeted support.
The Meraki Project is designed to provide personalised advocacy, casework and counselling for those in our community impacted by poor housing conditions or homelessness. Through this project we offer the services needed to improve both your housing situation and wellbeing.

Support That Changes Lives
Every connection you make through Phoenix 12 CIC helps foster wellbeing and resilience in those who need it most.
What Is the Meraki Project?
Meraki – Greek word meaning ‘to do something with passion, creativity and love, to put something of yourself in your work’…. Which is exactly what we do.

The Meraki Project is Phoenix 12 CIC’s flagship initiative aimed at supporting those whose well-being and resilience has been affected by poor housing conditions. We recognize that housing issues are more than just physical challenges—they also have deep emotional and mental health impacts that can affect you and/or your families.
The Meraki Project offers a 12-week program that provides both advocacy and casework services to deal with the practical issues regarding your housing and counselling services to address the emotional impact of those issues.
We understand that housing can also be affected by other issues such as benefits, immigration, employment, cost of living, fuel poverty etc., which we can help with too, however where there are issues that need more specialised support, we have a robust signposting and referral service. We can link you to services or organisations that we have worked with and trust.

Where 12 weeks is just not enough time to resolve issues, or when working for clients that need ongoing support, we have our Meraki Membership. Membership to Meraki is FREE and offers all the great supportive services of the Meraki Project and any of the workshops in our Lotus Project. It may even be that you receive support from the Meraki Project and then move over to our membership. We’re here for to provide whatever support services work best for you.
Personalised Advocacy, Casework and Counselling
Providing tailored Support for Lasting Change
At the heart of the Meraki Project is a commitment to personalised support. Every client or member that we work with receives a tailored plan that combines advocacy, casework and counselling to meet your unique needs.
12 Weeks of Advocacy & Casework
During the program, our advocates work with you one-on-one to address your housing concerns. Whether you need help understanding your rights, navigating complex housing systems, or finding better living arrangements, we provide the guidance and support needed to make meaningful improvements in your housing situation.
12 Weeks of Counselling
In addition to the housing support given by your advocate, you have the option to access and receive counselling aimed at addressing the emotional impact of the issues you are experiencing. The counsellors we work with will help you process the emotional strain and develop coping strategies to foster resilience and improved wellbeing.
A Holistic Approach to Wellbeing
We believe that lasting change comes from addressing both the external and internal challenges individuals face. That’s why the Meraki Project focuses not just on housing solutions but also on emotional and psychological support. By combining these elements, participants leave the program with a stronger foundation for long-term success.

Continued Care for Lasting Impact
Ongoing Support and Follow-Up
The Merakai Project doesn’t end when the 12 weeks are up. We provide ongoing support to ensure that the progress you’ve made is sustainable and continues to grow over time.
Monthly Online Support Meetings
Once you’ve completed the initial program, you’re invited to join 3 monthly online support meetings. These meetings provide a space for clients to connect and share their experiences with others who have experienced similar issues, and continue to receive guidance from our advocates and counsellors. The ongoing support ensures that you stay on track and continue to move forward with confidence. It may be that we find that clients are not able to join online, in which case we can arrange in-person group meetings as an option, or it maybe that you don’t feel ready to share in a group so would benefit from one-to-one follow ups with your advocate, the choice is always yours.
Meraki Membership
Our membership is available for those who continue to need support or are likely to need support for extended periods. Being part of our membership is a great way to feel that you are not alone and that we are just a phone call away.
Peer Support through Our Facebook Group
In addition to the x3 monthly follow-up meetings or our membership, all clients are invited to join our private Facebook group. This community space allows you to connect with others who’ve gone through the programme, membership or workshops, share resources, offer advice, and find encouragement from people who understand your journey.
Signposting, Referrals & Additional Resources
As your issues get resolved, we’ll continue to connect you with additional resources through our signposting and/or referral services. Whether it’s further housing or benefits support, mental health services, or job training, whatever is affecting your wellbeing, resilience and community engagement, we’re committed to helping you deal with whatever challenges or barriers that are affecting you, even after your time in the program.

Once we receive your referral, one of our team members will contact you for a discussion, during this discussion, we’ll assess the support needs that you tell us about and together we will determine how we can best support you.
What to Expect
Once your case is accepted, you’ll be allocated a dedicated advocate to develop a personalised support plan with you. This plan will identify the issues we will be supporting you with and the actions that we will be taking, and we will keep you updated each step of the way setting you on the path to achieve your desired outcomes, improving your wellbeing, resilience and community engagement.
